Case study
LCD for a Sound Level Meter
A dB reading plus weighting and time constants, on a handheld meter used indoors and out.

The requirement
A sound level meter shows a value in decibels together with the settings that make it meaningful: A or C weighting, fast or slow response, maximum hold. Get those wrong and the number is misleading.
What we supplied
- Segment layout with a dominant dB field and clear weighting / response indicators
- Maximum-hold and battery status fields
- Transflective structure for indoor and outdoor measurement
- Compact outline for a handheld housing
Why segment LCD
The parameter set is fixed and the reading must be legible at arm’s length while holding the meter. A segment display gives the contrast without a graphics stack.
