The requirement

The console had to be operated while running, so the design moved from a flat keypad to a rotary knob with the readout built into the knob itself. Space behind the knob is measured in millimetres.

What we supplied

  • Compact segment layout with large numerals for speed and smaller fields for time and distance
  • Icon set for incline, heart rate and programme mode
  • Reflective mode plus a low-current backlight, because the console runs from the machine supply
  • Connector and pinout matched to the controller board on the knob assembly

Result

One part replaces the separate window, display and keypad of the earlier console, which reduced assembly steps on the treadmill line.
