Case study
Touch Display for a Smart Mirror
A lit icon interface behind a semi-transparent mirror surface: the display design and the mirror coating have to be agreed together.

The requirement
The icons sit behind a mirror surface, so they are invisible until lit — which means brightness, the mirror transmission and the icon layout all have to work as one system.
What we supplied
- Segment icon layer designed for behind-mirror viewing, with a defined brightness target
- Backlight matched to the mirror transmission so lit icons are legible but not harsh
- Touch or capacitive sensing integration agreed with the mirror supplier
- Outline and connector matched to the mirror assembly
Why the coating matters
A mirror that reflects well hides the icons well. Agreeing the transmission figure with the mirror supplier is what makes both work — this is a system decision, not a display decision.
