Case study
Knob Touchscreen for a Smart Home Controller
A rotary control with a segment display inside it: temperature, mode and status on a part the user turns every day.

The requirement
The controller is operated by turning a knob, so the readout has to sit inside the knob and stay readable at an angle. Wear resistance matters as much as contrast: the part is touched daily for years.
What we supplied
- Segment layout with large numerals for temperature and smaller fields for mode and timer
- Icon set for heating, cooling, fan and schedule
- Reflective structure with a low-current backlight for evening use
- Outline and connector matched to the existing knob assembly
Why this structure
A fixed set of digits and icons does not need a dot-matrix module. A segment display gives higher contrast through the decorative window at a lower unit cost, and the driver stays simple.
