The requirement

Portable power stations are used outdoors, so the display has to stay readable in direct sunlight and in the cold, with low current draw because every milliamp comes out of the battery.

What we supplied

  • Reflective segment display with a wide-temperature polarizer for outdoor use
  • Battery level as both a bar and a percentage, plus input and output indicators
  • Backlight designed for low current, switched on only when the user requests it
  • Mechanical outline matched to the front housing and its seal

Why it matters

A display that fades in the cold or washes out in sunlight is the first thing customers notice on an outdoor product. Choosing the polarizer and the fluid for the real operating range costs less than a redesign after launch.
