Case study
Segment LCD for a Dog Training Collar
Battery level, training mode and signal status on a small battery-powered device that gets dropped, wet and left in the sun.

The requirement
A handheld training remote has to show mode, intensity and battery state on a display smaller than a thumb, running from a coin cell or a small lithium pack.
What we supplied
- Compact segment layout with mode, level and battery indicators
- Reflective structure with a low-current backlight for evening use
- Wide temperature polarizer for outdoor use and storage in a vehicle
- Outline and connector matched to the existing handset moulding
Design note
On coin-cell products, the backlight is usually the largest current consumer. Defining how long it may stay on, and at what current, is part of the drawing review — not an afterthought.
