Case study
Segment LCD for an Ultrasonic Water Meter
Electronic water meters read more parameters than mechanical ones — flow, total, battery and alarm state on a display that must last a decade.

The requirement
An ultrasonic meter measures electronically and therefore has more to show than a mechanical register: instantaneous flow, accumulated total, battery state and error codes. The display is still expected to run for years on one battery.
What we supplied
- Segment layout with a dominant totaliser field and secondary flow and status fields
- Reflective structure with a low-current backlight for meter-box reading
- Wide-temperature fluid and polarizer for unheated installations
- Sealing agreed with the housing supplier, since the electronics sit next to water
Design note
For electronic meters, the display current has to be budgeted against the measurement electronics, not on its own. We quote the display current at the drive voltage you actually use.
