Case study
Segment Display for a Domestic Gas Meter
Condensation, temperature cycling and a ten-year service expectation — the display structure chosen for a sealed gas meter.

The requirement
A gas meter sits in a meter box or a basement for a decade. Temperature cycling pulls moisture into the housing, and the display is expected to remain readable without service.
What we supplied
- Wide-temperature segment display with a polarizer selected for the humidity range
- Reflective mode, because the meter is read in daylight and powered by a long-life battery
- Sealing and pressure defined together with the housing so the zebra contact keeps its force over the product life
- Icon set for units, alarm and valve status
What to specify up front
Installation environment, expected service life and the lowest temperature at which the reading must be legible. Those three answers determine the fluid, the polarizer and the connector — and they are cheap to fix before tooling.
